Rosie’s Grey Wolf Hike
After much planning and postponing, Rosie led a group of intrepid cubs on a Grey Wolf hike.
She planned the route, completed her risk assessment, submitted it to Akela and got pack council approval to lead a hike.
She decided to hike around Lysterfield Lake and take a group of eager cubs with her. The hike was held on a beautiful autumn day which required some sun smart protection and Rosie made sure before the hike to advise her crew to be sun smart and also to be wary of any other dangers such as snakes.
With her notes and her map, she led the group and after coming across some wooden tepees in the bush, the cubs decided to investigate. They were gone for some time because they had come across a small mob of kangaroos also enjoying the sunshine.
A short break was taken on a hidden jetty where snacks were consumed and the clear water marvelled at. After walking along the main track for some time, Rosie led the hikers down a single track through the bush, where the cubs felt like they had the park to themselves. The single track came close to the lake shore, so another break was had. Not long after the single track joined back onto the main track, the dam wall was reached. After hiking for 5km in the sun there was some tired cubs but the end was in sight.
After crossing the wall, all that remained was to hike through the picnic area and have some afternoon tea. Well done to all cubs on a great hike.
Rosie would like to thank Akela and Rikki for supporting her Grey Wolf hike.
