Cuboree is Coming!
2nd - 6th October My Cub will be with 3500 of her closest mates at CUBOREE 2017!
This is the year of the Cuboree, three and a half thousand cubs camping out at Gilwell for 4 nights 5 days in October, there is a full commercial kitchen, live stage, Web TV Station, medical centre, police force and three or four theme parks that will leave Disneyland looking like Wobby's World. The whole thing is built and run by the scouting community, even the police and medics are scout leaders when not at their day job. It is a real world, concrete example of what a community can achieve when they all throw in together. My eldest daughter still talks about her Cuboree experience, my youngest is keen as mustard to finally get her turn and I enjoyed myself so much last time I'm signing up for another go! I am hoping very much that EVERY cub and leader at 3rd Ringwood East will want to come to the Cuboree!
The Victorian Cuboree is held every three years at Gilwell Park during the September School holidays. Gilwell Park is a campsite and activity centre for Scouting groups in Victoria, Australia. The 100 hectare property is located on both sides of the Launching Place Road, Gembrook. Here you will participate in games and activities, eat delicious camp meals, watch entertaining night-time shows and experience the great outdoors.
What is the Victorian Cuboree? It is the Cub Scout equivalent of the Scouts' Australian Jamboree. We are now setting our sites on the 9th VICTORIAN CUBOREE which will be held on October 2-6, 2017. Approximately 3,500 Cub Scouts from across Victoria will attend the 9th Cuboree, 2017. On top of this, there will be over 1,000 leaders and support staff on site, to look after the Cubs. It is a 4 night camp for all Victorian Cub Scouts aged 9 and above. To be eligible to attend this great event, you must be: a) a registered Cub Scout b) born on or after the 2nd of October 2006 (between 8 and 11 years old) c) must hold the Cub Scout "Camp Out Badge"
