End of year Cub break up
Wednesday's ceremony was on the bridge over Ringwood Lake nearing dusk. The Cubs had hiked there from the hall, navigating the back streets and collecting BBQ ingredients from leaders waiting at co-ordinates marked on a map by Bagheera.
The ceremony was attended by special guests Mt Dandenong Region Commissioner Gary Park and Principal of Heathmont East Kitty Allard who was 'Scarfed Up' (presented with a Prominent Community Member's ceremonial scout scarf.) by our groups ambassador Brock. The Greywolf Cubs received their awards with due dignity and avoided dropping them between the planks of the bridge into the lake below.
The Grey Wolf cubs each made an extraordinarily eloquent acceptance speech focusing on their "biggest challenge and greatest reward in scouting"
In addition to the Grey Wolf awards The three Cubs were presented with badges acknowledging their outdoor activity in the scouting movement. They received a badge for having stayed a total of 10 nights under canvas, and another for having Hiked a total of over 50 KM (two are closer to 65 km) These awards tallies began in Joeys at the age of 6 and will be built on throughout the next phase of their careers in Scouts an on through to Venturers and Rovers.
In addition to the Greywolf Awards our pack were awarded a total of 5 Bronze 11 Silver and 3 Gold Boomerangs with most of our pack also qualifying for their 10Km Walkabout badge.
Our leaders are very proud of the packs achievements this year and are delighted to welcome 3 new new cubs and a new leader for the new year.
